Find Your Peaceful Hobbies

Sometimes when you sit down at the keyboard you know exactly what you want to write about. And sometimes when you sit down at the keyboard you have nothing. I don't really have any ideas of what I want to write about this evening. However I do want to post something. So I'm posting about my weekend.

We all live in the day and age of media and an overwhelming amount of information right at our fingertips. Some good and some bad. We live in a time when we're almost always stimulated in some way. Be that with our cell phones, facebook, twitter, computers, TV's, video games, etc. My question for you is, when was the last time you remember doing nothing? Or maybe not even nothing, but something that didn't involve a screen of some sort?

Maybe your read that question and answered "Yesterday". Or maybe you read it and can't remember. Either way, my point is, we should all try and take some time away from the screens and do something we love. Do something relaxing that puts us in the current moment.

If you read my first post on this blog titled "I'm Back", You'll remember me saying that I've been spending a lot of time in the backyard at the fire pit this autumn. I've spent almost every weekend this fall outside enjoying nature. And that's exactly what I've been doing this weekend as well.
What better time of year to sit outside with your pup and a bottle of PumpKing beer. We've had a lot of cool crisp temperatures this week / weekend. We've had highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s. Fresh autumn air, fires, nature. It's been perfect.

I have a lot of hobbies. I dabble in a few different things. One of those things has been guitar. With my wife being away this weekend on a friend trip to Salem, MA, I've had a lot of alone time. So I've been keeping myself busy with my hobbies. And guitar won the spot this weekend.
I mean come on, You can't have a guitar and a fire pit and not mix the two! So I got some practice in.

I think doing things like this is very important. No screens, no media, no negativity. Just a log, a fire pit and a guitar. Those three things kept me busy in a good way for a solid 3 hours.

Find your peaceful activity, Find your relaxation.

  1. I believe and agree with what your blog stands for..the world is moving to fast..people forget how to live a basic simple life..if everyone in this world would take 1 weekend and go without all the things we take for granted I believe it could be a better place for all.

Thank you and I really enjoy your blog..
