Good evening bloggers.
Since starting this blog I've actively been looking for good news across the inter-webs. Because part of my idea when entering the blogger world again was not to contribute to the already overflowing amount of negativity in the world. I find it interesting how news always seems to be negative. Unless you go to places like the weather channel or some radio programs where they'll share a fun video, story, or photo to start your day. Most other news programs or sites are not very positive. I understand they have to report whatever comes their way. But at the same time, I believe good news is important too!
An example of what I'm talking about is something I stumbled upon this evening during my search for good news. That would be California! The droughts in California to be exact. I'm sure if you think back hard enough you can remember hearing all the stories and reports about all of the terrible droughts and fires in much of the state. It was everywhere. I honestly just assumed it was still happening to this day. I know, I know, "How naïve of me". But honestly, That's what I thought. It was only this evening during my search that I found out some wonderful news. For the first time in 7 long years, California has finally been declared drought free!
According to recent reports from the U.S. National Drought Mitigation Center, California has been experiencing some form of drought since December 20th of 2011. Which is 376 consecutive weeks in total. The states conditions have been improving since 2017 when experts recorded an abundance of rain and snowfall during the winter season. The rain and snow reduced the amount of drought-affected state land from 97% in 2016 to just 57%.
And now they say that only around 7% of California is experiencing abnormally dry conditions. This really is great news.
Above is a picture of Death Valley. This is a “super bloom” where millions of wildflowers burst into full color all at once. These super blooms generally only occur once every decade, but this is now the second super bloom that California has had the pleasure of enjoying in just a few short years. All thanks to the rain and snow that has finally graced California with its bounty
This is a sight that I think we all need to see. Also with these flowers comes many butterflies! There are reports of many "painted ladies" (Butterflies) that are migrating by the millions across southern California.
Water makes life. It's simple. Water makes flowers, flowers bring the butterflies, and all this makes for good news!
Have a good night bloggers. As always, thanks for reading.
