Potential First Snow Of The Season

Good morning bloggers. I hope everyone had an amazing Halloween. I took a bit of a break from the blog over the weekend. We had a lot of Halloween fun and my plate was pretty full.

We had those rainy windy conditions here at home. We actually recorded a wind gust of 55MPH. And over two inches of rain. Yet we still had a lot of kids stopping by for candy! I was worried I bought too much candy for the trick or treaters, That was not the case. I ran out by 8:30pm. It was great. Our dog Roo absolutely LOVES Halloween as she gets to greet all the kids that ring the doorbell. She was so excited.

My wife and I made soul cakes for the holiday. We had a delicious roasted chicken dinner with some wine and music. We were not able to have a fire outside due to all the rain and wind. So we lit the little indoor fire pit that I made years ago back when we still lived in Indiana. It was nice and we had a lot of fun.

The Halloween decorations have been picked up and put away for yet another year. And now I have started to hang my outdoor Christmas lights. I know... I know!! "Why so early?". I get it lol. But it's really not that early to start hanging your outdoor lights if you live as far north as I do. Temperatures are cooling down QUICK and the snow is coming! I don't want to be up on the roof or just messing with little lights in general come the super cold and snow. I can promise you that I'm not the only one up here starting to hang their display this week lol.

That's right. Potential first snow of the season here in Rochester. This week! This is why I started Hanging my lights. Beat the cold, Beat the snow.

This is a look at the Bufkit model data for the Rochester, NY area come Thursday the 7th. Remember that this is subject to change over the next day or so. Right now most forecasters are not giving possible amounts in the form of snowfall. This is because they're unsure how much of the precipitation will fall as all snow. That is the key factor here. I have a couple models showing the precipitation turning to all snow by 1 or 2pm Thursday. this would give us about an inch or so of snowfall. This model above shows all snow from the start of the event. I currently think that's a bit optimistic. We will see over time. We're only expected to hit a high Thursday of 37* degrees and fall pretty quickly to a low of 25* degrees.

I will definitely keep watching this as we move into Thursday.

The first snow of the season is always exciting to me.

Get ready for the cold, bloggers. Stay warm, stay safe, and as always I think you for reading.
