Hey bloggers!
Once again it's been a few days since my last update. I've been a busy bee. Feeding the wild life, Remodeling a room in our upstairs, Dealing with plumbing issues. It's all kept me fairly busy. However at this exact moment I have a bit of time to pop in and share some words with you all. So lets dive in shall we? Oh yes... We shall!
First off, if you're not new to this blog, then you'll already be aware that I enjoy feeding the wild life in my area every once in a while. Not all the time as I don't want them to become dependent on it! But every once in a while I feed them.
Well, I had a couple spare honey crisp apples the other night. I cut them in half and tossed them out in my front yard for whoever may want a little snack on a cold Rochester winter night. When I checked the cameras that next morning I wasn't disappointed.
Take a look.
These two beautiful young doe's came by for a midnight snack. That night I believe I counted a total of 4 deer in my yard. One of which was a buck that wondered in a couple hours later.
I absolutely love watching the animals in my area. We have so many. Foxes, Opossum, Raccoons, Cats, Deer, and it never gets old to me. As I've said many many times on this blog "It's the little things that matter".
In edition to feeding the wild life, I mentioned that I was also busy remodeling a room upstairs. We had this spare room when we moved in. It was originally painted a dark green along with dark green carpet, and dark green window shades. We repainted it when we first moved in to a lighter blue as you will see in this first picture.
Still it was very ugly LOL.
We turned it into a family room of sorts. A place where my wife could meditate and I could do my painting. However we found ourselves still wanting something different. My wife and I are both big time readers. We've collected a lot of book over the years as well. It seems to be the one thing neither of us can get rid of. So we finally decided to turn it into a home library!
you saw the before picture above. Now take a look at the after.
I managed to get this done in about three days. I pulled up that horrible green carpet to reveal the original hardwood floors from 1947! Why anyone covered them up to begin with is beyond me. It just feels like a crime to have covered up such a beautiful floor.
I also found some vintage furniture at a couple Goodwill stores. Those chairs are amazing and tie into the room very well. My wife wanted lights of some sort so I hung up some globe lights. And I found this amazing vintage trunk to use as a coffee / book table.
I'm in love with that trunk! And it was only $7 at savers! a total steal! You can go to any antique shop and find a trunk like this one for a minimum of $50. And take a look at the close up of this vintage chair. Yet another piece I'm in love with.
Dexter appears to be in love with it too. His royal highness in his royal chair. This is actually his house, he just lets us live here. lol.
All in all I'm thrilled with the way the room came out. My wife and I have already spent many days and nights just sitting in there reading, and or engaging in deep conversations. It's the perfect unwinding room. The perfect library.
So that's what I've been up to bloggers. I hope things have been going well for you also. Thank you again for taking the time to read my hardly interesting posts :) I appreciate you!
Stay well and take care. I will check in again soon.
