I wanted to pop back in real quick and share something I find pretty amazing. With all the talk I've done on this blog lately about snow and how Rochester isn't having much of a winter this year. I came across a story that maybe a few of you are already familiar with. I'm talking about a major blizzard that hit the Newfoundland Canadian province just this weekend. It's insane! Take a look at this video below. This pretty much tells the whole story.
A large section of the island including the city of St. John’s, Avalon Peninsula, Clarenville and Bonavista Peninsula was under a blizzard warning Saturday with a total snowfall of 35 to 75 centimetres expected. Which is around one foot to two and a half feet. Some areas however reported having 170cm of snow on the ground which would be about five and a half feet.
Wind gusts were forecast to be as high as 120 kilometres per hour and up to 150 kilometres per hour along parts of the coast, according to Environment Canada. Which would have been between 75 mph and 100 mph.
The City of St. John’s declared a state of emergency at 11 a.m. last Friday. All businesses were told to close, though many buildings were already closed for the day. All vehicles except first responders were ordered off the road.
I showed the video above to my wife and her response was "Where would you even begin? I would probably cry". lol And then theres me saying "This would be AWESOME!". lol Now I say that however I'm also fully aware of how dangerous this is. Power outages, the state of emergency, people with health issues being stranded. I'm aware of all of this. And I send many thoughts and prayers to everyone in this blizzard to make it through safe and sound.
The kid in my however is still really excited about the thought of that much snow. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it must be like.
Here is another video. It's like something out of a storybook or movie.

That's it for now bloggers. Have a great weekend and I will check back again soon. Enjoy the snow and stay well!
Thank you for reading.
