We are on to day 16 of the Coronavirus shut down. I've been working on my hobby's as a way of keeping busy. Music, Drawing, while also keeping active by running / training for the first ever virtual Indy Mini Marathon next month.
Einstein once said, “Life without playing music is inconceivable to me. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music... I get most joy in life out of music”. And as it turns out, Einstein was onto something. Many studies show a correlation between musical training and academic success, in both children and adults. Learning to play an instrument stimulates the brain, improving functions like memory and abstract reasoning skills, which are essential for math and science.
Researchers have found that learning to play a musical instrument can enhance verbal memory, spatial reasoning and literacy skills. Playing an instrument makes you use both sides of your brain, which strengthens memory power.
I mean honestly we can talk on and on about all the scientifically accurate benefits to learning a musical instrument. But what matters most is that it’s enjoyable for the player. While other hobbies like watching TV or flicking through social media are passive, playing music actively engages and stimulates the brain, making you feel happy. And that's all I'm trying to do. I wanted to learn the guitar so I could pick it up and strum or pick a few songs. It's relaxing and I'm having a good time with it. That's all the matters.
Speaking of music. This morning on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Michael Buble was on.
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a big Michael Buble fan. His genre of music is so entrancing to me. I truly believe he is today's Sinarta. And honestly he's just an all around down to earth good person.
Now of course I cannot talk about him and then not share a performance. So enjoy this video below.
I want to thank you all again for stopping by the blog. I appreciate it as always. Stay tuned for another post as we continue to count up the shut down!
Before I sign off I just want to remind everyone again to stop for a moment and be thankful for what you have. There are a lot of people out there right now that don't have a safe place to stay amidst this pandemic. People who don't have the luxury of having cabinets full of food. So please remember your privilege during this tough time and if you can, please look to help others. Be kind to others! And if nothing else please continue to do your part and stay home as much as possible. Social distance and slow the spread. Thank you!
I love this music by Micheal Buble
