Some not so great news regarding the Coronavirus here in America. On April 28th, so two days ago, the United States recorded more than 1 million cases of covid-19 marking a grim milestone in the country with the most reported Coronavirus infections in the world!
You can see the current numbers below as of 2:pm today. As you can see we are well over one million cases country wide as of now.
The U.S. has more covid-19 cases than any other country. Spain, has around 50 million people compared with some 332 million in the U.S., has 232,128 cases. Italy, has a population of around 62 million people, has 201,505 cases. China, where the outbreak began, is reporting fewer than 84,000 cases.
This is why going back to my post the other day about re-opening, we NEED to do it slow and smart! We can't get ahead of ourselves and cause another spike in cases.
These two images taken from live streaming cameras in New York City today at around 1:pm. You can see streets are still empty as they should be. Time square is completely bare.
This is the new normal for now. And may be for a while. We have no idea.
As I said in a past post, the Rochester, NY area is back to doing elective procedures in hospitals which is a good sign. And great news for patients that need them. However we too are still on lock down. We too are still wearing masks every time we go out to the grocery store. And we too have no idea when less essential businesses will start to open up again. For right now the new normal looks like the images of empty streets above and this image of masks below.
It's crazy to think about how much everything will be changed once we finally put this Coronavirus mess behind us. Travel will forever be changed. How we thinks of hand shakes or germs will forever be changed. Healthcare with teli-medicine and schools with e-learning will forever be a change. etc. So many things will or could be different once all this is over.
You read about history in school. You talk about history with your grandparents and what they lived through. But you never actually think you're going to live through something THIS big, something THIS historic! So much has happened over the course of a few months. And it's not over yet.
It's just hard to wrap your mind around.
So for now bloggers. Please keep social distancing and please stay safe!
Thank you for reading.
