Day 128 Of Coronavirus Shutdown

Good morning everyone. I hope everyone is staying healthy and well during these tough times.

I have a light hearted story for you all. Are you familiar with Rosie the Riveter? I'm sure most of us are. Or should be at least. Rosie the Riveter was a cultural icon of World War II, representing the women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II, many of whom produced munitions and war supplies. These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who joined the military.

My wife came across a story yesterday about an amazing lady named Mae Krier. This amazing lady is one of the original Rosie the Riveters. And now she is making polka dot masks for people during this pandemic. Rosie the Riveter is famously depicted wearing a red polka dot bandana around her head, but now, Krier is stitching face masks from the same cloth.
Mae Krier, who is 94 years old worked in a Boeing factory during World War II. She helped make warplanes. Now, she's helping fight the coronavirus.

"I always made (them) for Rosie travel," she said in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo. "We go to Washington and places and whenever we do, they love the bandanas. And I was making a lot of them when the virus started, and I just switched over from bandanas to face masks."

She first started making the masks a few months ago for her family and friends. Then someone posted about them on facebook and she started getting requests from people across the country. She has made over 300 masks already and the requests haven't stopped.

She went through the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, World War II and back then Americans banded together and did what they had to do. She said that she just doesn't understand why people can't band together now.  She said "Wearing a mask seems simple to me after going through all that,". And I have to say ((I completely agree)).

It blows my mind that she was only 17 when she left for the Boeing factory to start building warplanes. Dropping everything to help her country. And now we have people here upset, throwing a fit because they've been asked to wear a simple mask... Come on people. Be better. WEAR A MASK, SAVE LIVES!
