New Advisories And Warnings! It's About To Be A Winter Wonderland

The National weather service has now upgraded the Rochester, NY area a Winter Storm Warning!

Monroe-Wayne-Northern Cayuga-Livingston-Ontario-
Including the cities of Rochester, Newark, Fair Haven, Geneseo,
and Canandaigua

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING
TO 9 AM EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations of 6 to 10 inches. Locally higher amounts
  possible.

* WHERE...The Genesee Valley and Northern Finger Lakes.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 9 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. Conditions will
  deteriorate during the day today, with the heaviest snowfall
  rates and worst travel from late this afternoon through late
  tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Widespread accumulating snow and ice will create dangerous travel
conditions.

I still think most of us in the Rochester, area will pick up that 7" to 10" inch range. However the latest data this morning is showing the chance at as much as a foot of snow! So isolated higher amounts cannot be ruled out at this time. Here is a look at my latest snowfall total forecast below.

You can see I have that wide spread area of 7" to 10" inches across most of Rochester. With the slightly lighter color of purple showing the chance of over 10" inches of snow.

I even through in the snowfall for my Indiana friends as well, as seen in the map above. 

Lafayette, you now have a Winter Weather Advisory in effect.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
8 AM EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central and west central  Indiana.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...rapidly falling temperatures this evening
  and overnight may lead to flash freezing conditions with roads
  remaining icy through Tuesday morning.

Some models are showing isolated 4" inches for you guys in the Midwest. So don't totally rule that out. However most will see that 1" to 3" inch range.
