Weekend, Whiskey, Vitamin C.

Hey bloggers.
What a weekend / week it has been.

My wife had a late work holiday party that we got to attend this past weekend. It was at a place here in Rochester called Iron Smoke Distillery. You can actually tour the entire facility of Iron Smoke Distillery, which is renowned for brewing two beloved brands of whiskeys namely Rattlesnake Rosie’s Apple Pie and Iron Smoke Straight Bourbon. Found within the premises is an area named Watering Room where people can enjoy the drinks and simultaneously enjoy live performances. The large row of barrels perfectly complements the rustic interior of this place.

I loved almost everything about this place. It's vibe was right up my alley. Take a look at the room called The Watering Room.
Above is the stage area where they do live music.

Here you get a clear view of the logo above the stage.

The room had a very old vintage feel to it. Rustic and charming. The old style couch and chairs. The old rugs and whiskey barrels. It was awesome! But they best part? Well of course that had to be the whiskey.
I'm a big whiskey lover. So going to a whiskey distillery I absolutely had to have some. And let me tell you, (It was amazing). Nothing fantasy, Nothing mixed, just straight up local whiskey on the rocks. It was by far the smoothest whiskey I've ever had. If any of you come to Rochester, I highly recommend this place.

The night was fun. The band was great. And I still made it home in time for the last quarter and a half of football.

As for the start of this week, I did end up coming down with a cold. That's what I've been dealing with over the past four days. Nothing major, Just the common cold.

I was talking with my wife this morning about being sick and what people usually do to get well. And one of the things a lot of people do is drink orange juice. Which honestly make no sense to me. One of the things that can suppress your immune system is sugar. And what is orange juice? Complete sugar! People drink it because of the vitamin C which is supposed to have a big impact on the immune system. However Vitamin D and Zinc actually have a much BIGGER impact. If you want more vitamin C and less sugar try eating red bell peppers. One cup of chopped red bell peppers actually have three times as much vitamin C than one orange. Honestly all bell peppers have more vitamin C than oranges. I'm not exactly sure how the whole orange juice thing got started, let alone that it being the best place to get vitamin C. But it's time for a change! Which is why I wanted to share this information with you all.

So I decided not to do juice this time, I also decided to intermittent fast and heat healthy. Why am I telling you all this? Because I think it's working! I don't typically fight the common cold very well. But by paying attention to what I'm putting into my body and cutting out sugar, I'm finally noticing my body taking charge over this cold and fighting to get well! And with so many bugs going around I felt this was a perfect time to share what has been working for me. In hopes that it will also help you.

Stay well everyone. Thank you all for reading and I will check back again soon.
