We are now on day 47 of the shutdown. I say "we" but I'm actually counting the days since my last day at work due to the NYS shutdown.
Yesterday was a beautiful day in NYS with temperatures in the middle 60s. Perfect weather for my Indy Mini Marathon. Today is another perfect weather day. Sunny skies and temperatures again in the middle to upper 60s. My yard is showing the first real signs of Spring and Summer. I walked my property this afternoon capturing images to share with you all. Trying to sprinkle some nature and happiness in your day. A nice change of pace from all the Coronavirus doom and gloom.
So check out these nature pictures and relax a bit.
Dandelions can be beautiful. And as I wrote about in a part post. They are actually super necessary to honeybees and the environment. So why not let them be? They add color to your yard, and natural is beautiful.
Also our tree finally started to bloom! Crisp white blooms. So clean and so happy.
The flowers in the little private garden area are slowing starting to bloom as well.
And even some wild flowers are popping up all over the yard. Little white ones and purple ones.
My wife and I are planning on having a small bonfire in our yard tonight. Just the two of us as we are still practicing social distancing. Maybe roast some hot-dogs and have a beer. It just seems like a great way to take advantage of this beautiful weather. We haven't had much of it in the past several months. So we MUST enjoy while it's here.
I do want to give a brief update on where we stand with the Coronavirus. So if you are not interested and want to just leave this post with the flower pictures I fully understand. Stop reading here lol.
But for the rest of you, lets take a closer look.
The U.S. death toll has topped 60,600 people as of today. The number of confirmed U.S. cases has topped 1.1 million. These number are still rising and its devastating without a doubt.
Stores, restaurants, and movie theaters have began to re-open in Texas, despite a rise in cases there. While in New York police dispatched 1,000 officers this weekend to enforce social distancing and a ban on congregating in public spaces. Things are so different from one state to the next.
We here in NYS are still unsure what business will likely open up as we continue to inch closer to that May 15th date. Gov, Andrew Cuomo is still keeping a close eye on the virus and numbers and is reminding us all that we must tread lightly in these unknown waters of the Coronavirus.
He says -
"Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
"The 1918 Influenza Epidemic lasted over 10 months and came in three waves.
The 2nd wave was worse than the first wave.
We must be cautious. The war isn’t won yet."
Gov, Cuomo also said this -
"Want to know the best way to honor our brave health care workers some of whom literally gave their lives to save others?
Act responsibly and wear a mask outside."
Reminder-
So yes, at least here in NYS we must stay the course in handling this virus the right way. By wearing masks while out in areas with other people, (Stores etc) and by social distancing. This isn't over yet. (We can't be stupid)
Stay well everyone.
Thank you for reading.
