Wow. We are officially on day 93 Of the Coronavirus shutdown. I say "We" however I'm speaking about myself as my work is still shut down due to the Coronavirus. I expect however that we will be back to work by the first week of July. We will see. However if that is the case than we will reach 100 days of shutdown before that happens. Which is pretty incredible to me. I remember when we first got shut down and I started writing to you guys about everything. I wasn't sure it would last more than two weeks. Then I figured we'd be back to work before 90 days. And now we have surpassed 90 days. That's incredible.
Some really good news on testing here in NYS. NY tested 59,341 people for COVID a couple of days ago. Only 567 tests came back positive — 0.96% of total. That is a record low. But you know what is both interesting and horrifying? On the same day NYS is seeing record low numbers, Florida saw 2,783 new COVID-19 cases. The third time in a week the state set a new daily record high.
My point in telling you all this is so you understand that Coronavirus isn't over. It's not gone. It is very much still here and honestly causing a lot of deaths and infections in most states across America. So please, regardless of what your state leaders may be telling you. Or what Dumb-Ass trump may be telling you. About how it is gone or how you can begin to let up when it comes to wearing masks and social distancing. Please don't believe it. Wear a mask and still practice social distancing. (Do.. Your.. Part!).
Together my buddy and I have raised just under $250 dollars for Coronavirus relief founds via these virtual races. I know that's a small amount when in comparison to other major donors. However for a couple of blue collar workers we are proud of whatever we were able to give. This image above is from my latest half marathon where all the founds went to Coronavirus relief aids. Such aids go to food pantries, hospitals, PPE supplies etc. It's such a small roll that him and I have played in this pandemic. But spreading awareness is worth something in our book. That's what we have been trying to do with these races, that's what we've been trying to do with our podcast, and that's what I try to do here on this blog as often as I can!
There are a lot of other things I could talk about on this post today. However so much of it isn't good news. Most of which I'm speaking of refers to our current administration. So I will choose to skip that part of this post lol.
I want to thank you all for reading. I will check back again real soon.
WEAR YOUR MASK AND CONTINUE TO PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING!
